Five Hollywood studios sue Hotfile over copyright infringement

Five Hollywood studios filed a lawsuit against Hotfile Corp, claiming the movie-streaming service infringed their copyrights.

On Tuesday, Disney, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros, Universal City Studios Productions and Columbia Pictures jointly filed the suit with the US District Court, Southern District of Florida Miami Division.

News Item - Concerns over web copyright laws

Changes to online copyright law could make broadband "unaffordable" for thousands of people, a consumer group said.

The Government has announced internet service providers (ISPs) will pay 25% of the costs of any challenges against suspected online piracy.

Minister for Communications Ed Vaizey said the move would help protect the "creative industries" which lose out when content, including music, is shared online without being paid for.

Late actress Brittany Murphy's husband found dead in LA

Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack has been found dead at his home in Los Angeles.

Police spokesman Sgt Louie Lozano said the British screenwriter was found dead at his house in Hollywood Hills on Sunday night.

He added that the preliminary cause of death was natural causes but investigators are still at the scene.

The news comes five months after the death of US actress Murphy, who died of pneumonia aged 32.
